Trip Overview
Sample TRAVEL ITINERARY:
Day 1
Depart Austin High at 7:00 a.m. with a sack lunch (or lunch money for a fast food restaurant). Students will eat lunch upon arrival in Corpus Christi, then head on to Port Aransas for a dolphin-viewing cruise with marine naturalists on board. For the evening, Group A will set up tents at Mustang Island State Park for star-gazing and teambuilding activities while Group B will head to the Texas State Aquarium to sleep with the sharks!
Day 2
Students will rotate through activities including deeper exploration of the aquarium to consider our reliance on and impact on marine biology issues; visit Oso Bay to learn about human impact on wetlands and wildlife; participate in a beach clean-up activity; switch evening locations so that Group A sleeps with the sharks and Group B star-gazes. Each group will have one dinner at the campground and on the other night, there will be a group dinner at a restaurant in Corpus Christi.
Day 3
Drive to King Ranch for a tour, lunch, and guided lesson on environmental stewardship, then travel home and arrive at Austin High around 6:00 p.m.
